Judges report

The area, as advertised is a tack/equestrian shop and as such was quite challenging for this level.

We halved the shop and the dogs came into a holding area before starting. They had 3 isles of stock/equipment and a small room full of stable yard equipment.

One hide was on the rhs approx 10 inches off the floor in a wire rack of brushes, right at the front

The second hide was in the end of a reel of electric fencing at the other end of the search area, bottom shelf so again easy to get to source.

We had a mixture of dogs and handlers overwhelmed with the area, the first isle was quite narrow and dogs rushed past the first hide and then unfortunately handlers got in their way when working it back, around half located odour but didn’t commit to this hide. The top hide was picked up more easily from working from the left of the shop but dogs committed both ways and showed some lovely indications.

Considering some handlers looked a bit lost everyone covered the area well, getting around it at least twice in the time. The majority worked on a line for various reasons but that definitely was a disadvantage for most as it was hrs for them not to be in the dogs way at some point.

Handlers however were all very encouraging to their dogs and there was some lovely searching.
