nd Ros Kellow & Chrisan Clarenza 99
rd Marney Wells & Mustard 98
th Kate Betts & Pip 94
th Peter Tuck & Minnie 91
th Hilary Denyer & Drusie 90
The area was a large L shape with teams starting in the middle of the L. The hides were on the back of some steps and on a piece of wooden cladding on a wall. The step hide required teams to push right out to the edge of the search. The cladding was placed to see if handler would work the dogs in to that area after coming off the edge of the paving and near the bushes. Nearly all the dogs got both hides. Most teams starting by working the wall opposite the steps. The odour seemed to be blowing across and it was lovely to see a few handlers recognise the early interest and allow the dogs to pull them across to the odour. It was also lovely to see how the dogs worked this hide to source, some from the steps, some from the front but all keeping going until they were convinced they were at source. There was some lovely search patterns and again some lovely dog driven searching which I love to see. The hide on the cladding did see some dogs missing the area as they came off the kerb near the bushes but often the handlers worked them back towards the corner, recognising that they had missed the area. A high standard demonstrated across all teams in a very close competition.
